About Mr. Joseph Sinnott

Mr. Joseph Sinnott is a highly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and Thyroid Surgeon. Known for his warm demeanour, he provides expert care for both adults and children with a variety of ENT and thyroid conditions. His areas of expertise include tonsillitis, neck lumps, cancer diagnosis, nasal blockages, and thyroid nodules. Mr. Sinnott specialises in ear blockage and paediatric ENT issues, offering advanced treatment for upper airway diseases such as tonsil and adenoid problems, voice disorders, and rapid diagnosis of neck lumps. He is also manages dizziness and ear infections.

Since November 2022, Mr. Sinnott has served as an ENT Consultant at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. He also provides private consultations at The Ridgeway Hospital and Shalbourne Private Healthcare, both located in Swindon, covering Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire, West Berks and Oxfordshire. In addition to in-person consultations, he offers video and telephone appointments.

Mr. Sinnott performs several procedures, including tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies, removal of neck lumps, sinus surgery, nasal polypectomy, and septoplasty.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Warwick in 2012, Mr. Sinnott completed his two-year foundation training program and pursued then surgical training at esteemed centres in Sussex, South West England, and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. His training focused on subspecialties such as head and neck cancer, rhinology and thyroid surgery. He further honed his skills through Observerships at London’s Royal National ENT Hospital and Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, USA.

Mr. Sinnott is a recognised leader and educator in his field, holding a Level 6 qualification in Leadership and Management from the CMI and is a qualified coach. His experience as a Medical Officer in the Royal Naval Reserves has enriched his roles within the NHS and private practice. He co-chairs the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and serves as the Education Lead for ENT at the Great Western Hospital, which was rated the UK’s best ENT department for trainee support and wellbeing in 2023. He is also involved in teaching local GPs and junior doctors and serves as a coach for doctors and surgical trainees at NHS South West Leadership Academy.

  • Dedicated to ongoing improvement and innovation, Mr. Sinnott was awarded an international gold medal for research into thyroid malignancy in 2016 and completed the British Rhinology Society Advanced Training Programme in 2022. He has published numerous peer-reviewed papers in leading journals and has presented at key forums such as the European Rhinology Society International Meeting and the British Neuroendoscopy Society Meeting.

    Mr. Sinnott’s research interests include sinus surgery, head and neck oncology, paediatric neck lumps, and thyroid nodules. He has contributed extensively to professional publications such as Clinical Otolaryngology, the British Journal of Healthcare Management, the Journal of Laryngology and Otology, and Clinical Endocrinology. His presentations have been featured at significant conferences, including the European Rhinology Society International Meeting and the British Neuroendoscopy Society Meeting (BNES).
